Sonographic characteristics of median nerve neuropathy in Hansen’s disease: a case-control study

Background and objectives High-resolution ultrasonography (HRUS) has become a vital imaging tool in the management of leprosy. This case-control study analyzed sonographic data on median nerves leprosy healthy controls to identify features characteristic Methods Newly diagnosed treatment naïve Hansen’s patients both sexes aged >16 years were included study. CSA measured at wrist (S1), 5 cm above (S2), 10 cm (S3), mid-forearm (S4) elbow (S5). Results 30 from 22 cases 15 subjects compared. Among cases, 8 borderline tuberculoid, 9 lepromatous, 3 lepromatous leprosy, 2 indeterminate Abnormal motor (76.7%) sensory (96.7%) noted patient group. mean 18.5 mm2 S1, 20.3 S2, 14.1 S3, 9.1 S4, 8.1 S5. S1 S2 significantly higher compared other sites. values controls. distorted - grade II (33.3%), III (40.0%) IV (20%), hypervascularity 26.6%. Conclusion depicted maximum enlargement distal forearm with architecture.
